Barbara will explore the various roles of a scriptwriter in today’s industry and how a writer’s career path varies between Europe and the U.S. Setting the tone for the following lecture/workshop, Barbara will discuss the important role of a scriptwriter during the development stage of a project.

A concept that is well-developed will have the best odds for success, and one that is poorly developed will usually fail. But what are the elements of strong development and what choices will lead to success?
With a combination of lecture, group and individual exercises, Barbara will provide a fun and practical approach to the development process that can be applied to both television and film.

‘Peppa Pig’ is a British pre-school series scripted by Mark Baker and Neville Astley which production started in August 2003. Lauded and sold worldwide to 150 countries, and achieving each time very high audience rates, the characters have found a new life in toy shops, books, etc…
Phil, the series producer, will explain the importance of developing IP and creating assets as a company in order to negotiate reasonable positions with reference to licensing and merchandising and retain control over production values.

Vivendi, a worldwide leader in entertainment, launched in 2008 zaOza, a new digital (PC and mobile ) paying service that proposes to its users to share content amongst its community and to access an array of entertainment products including videos, music, games and animation shorts. Before launching a multimedia service, how do you get to know your potential audience and their needs? Which are the most sought after programmes by viewers and how can this translate in animation? How can the animation world benefit from zaOza?
